In this project, we used 29 toothpicks to Build toothpick structure that can carry the most weight.
During the trials, I learned that the structures need to have a strong base. Whenever we did not have a strong or stable base, the structure broke or collapsed to the bottom and did not function. The tip of this project was to keep a steady bottom. If the bottom was not stable, textbooks went wobbly and fell on the ground. Using this tip, we changed our structure’s center balance point with a chunk of toothpicks to make the top hat stable. At first our project had to grill looking rectangular top and bottoms with two stands on the sides. Later we found out there needs to be something in the middle as well after the first trial, so we added a few toothpicks diagonally. It worked, but it couldn’t hold for that long. So we took out the diagonal toothpicks and used all the leftover toothpicks and stacked all of them to make a chunk of Colum. This time we successfully and more stable stacked 7 books, and broke our record.
