The purpose of this project was to construct a vehicle that will land in a designated landing zone while protecting a raw egg from a fall.
The procedure of this project was to create a structure that is strong enough to protect the egg and a structure testable both laterally and vertically.
Frist of all we built a structure in a Frisbee structure that had a hole in the middle that was connected with tape and the egg. The results were not that successful, so we decided to make a new structure that was off the first design. It was a cylinder filled with shredded paper and it had two balls on the ends to keep the balance. The egg was hidden inside the cylinder, and the results were not successful as well. We decided to make the first model more advanced.
Our final design was a Frisbee looking structure that we started off in the beginning. We learned after research that heavier Frisbees went further, so we made our Frisbee 200g heavier. Our egg survived on the flight to the zone because it was sealed with tape and the egg was sealed into a nest in the middle that was completely protected. The Frisbee model made it easy for the landing ( it went smoothly) and the sealed ball filled with shredded paper (that had the egg inside) made it successful.
In the process 1. I learned that shredded paper helps the protection of the egg because it takes in a lot of shock. 2. Crumbled paper is also good for protection when landing. 3. Rolled up cylinders help the structure stand and be strong.
